Khenchen Rinpoche’s retreat during April/ May 2026

In early 2026 I received a phone call from my Dharma Sister Katya Pemberton. We’d met a decade ago at a Virginia retreat led by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.

She said “I know it’s a random question but do you know of a retreat center where we could host my Teacher, Khenchen Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche?” I said “Yes, I do!” And that was the luminous beginning of a five day retreat of Dzogchen Teachings from the Zhangzhung Nyen Gyu: Dru Gyalwai Chaktri by Khenchen Rinpoche and Geshe-La.

Rinpoche was simultaneously light, immovable, humorous, erudite, and accessible. Geshe-La  was constant and the Sangha was devoted and had travelled nationwide to study with their Teacher.

For five days we weaved Sang Offerings, Teachings, Chöd, and Sur Offerings, Lungsta-Raising, and Sky-Gazing to name a few. Tashi Chöling continues to receive the blessings of Khenchen Rinpoche’s instructions!
